Chapter Nineteen

“GOSH, I’M SORRY. I saw Mara’s door open, and I guess I should’ve knocked or something.” Patsy licked her full red lips.

Those blue eyes twinkled, and she put up an arm to smooth a wisp of golden hair back down.

The movement pretty much forced Blaze to glance at her cleavage. Her top was straining to keep her puppies out of sight. And when she reached up, the blouse lifted so he could see her perfect little belly button.

Mara stepped away from Blaze. “It wasn’t going to happen. We were married. It ended badly. We’re exes, and messing with your ex when you’re stressed is a bad idea. It’s just we’re here to see Granny, who kind of raised me, and definitely tormented me, so, yeah, I’m babbling. I’ll stop.”

Patsy went into the room and grabbed Mara’s hand. The blonde lifted it and kissed it. “No, I understand, sweetie, believe me. My family is real messed up. For a long time, I knew it, but it’s hard to get out when they got their hooks in you, you know?”

Mara looked at Blaze with a wondering look. Then she shifted her gaze back to Patsy. “Yeah, Pats, the hooks go deep. But I’m sensing something from you. Something strange.”

Blaze felt the sexual tension in the air. His pants weren’t getting any looser, not with this new woman in the room, looking fine and as breathless as he felt. Thank the Lord that Granny had given them this little respite. It was turning out to be very interesting.

Patsy blushed. “I ain’t such a good girl, you know? Ling told me about y’all, and I got to thinking that maybe we could party a little together. Maybe after we get away.” She smiled nervously, then furrowed her brow. “I mean, your ship should come back, and maybe I could go with you. I mean, like I said, my family ain’t so great.”

Blaze saw the conflict on the girl’s face. It was like she wanted to tell them something but was stopping herself. Of course, if she was a vegan, living with a farming family wouldn’t be the easiest thing in the world. However, he knew it was more than that.

Patsy glanced down and blushed. “Maybe I didn’t come to talk about my messed-up family. Maybe I came for something more. I’m scared, and I know I could die at any minute. Before I do, I want...I want to be touched, kissed, loved on. You know?”

Blaze grinned. “We know. But come on, Patsy, think about what you’re suggesting. You want to jump into a threesome with us? That’s not exactly normal if you think about it.”

Patsy damn near glowed. Was that excitement? Embarrassment? Both? The tension in the room became thick enough to cut with a dull butter knife.

Mara swallowed. “I have to agree with Ramon...Blaze...he’s Blaze, the ex-husband, someone who I swore I was done with. No, I can’t do a threesome, not with him, but you are hot, Patsy, and slightly mysterious, and I like when women lie to me.
